Magnetek Quattro™
DC Drive Awarded First
Production Orders From OTIS & KONE
Menomonee
Falls, WI, August 15, 2006 -- Magnetek,
Inc. today announced they have received
the first production orders from Otis Elevator
Co. and KONE Corporation for their new innovative
Quattro™ DC Elevator Drive.
"We are proud and very
confident in Quattro's™ capabilities.
Our revolutionary technology makes this
drive versatile, energy efficient and, most
important, reliable. There's nothing else
like it in the market today," says
John Corey, Vice President Magnetek Elevator
Products. "These first production orders
were received because of Quattro's™
patented drive design. Quattro's™
IGBT-based DC Drive, which offers an alternative
to the traditional SCR (Silicon Controlled
Rectifier) technology, provides features
such as fully regenerative power conversion,
unity power factor, clean utility side harmonics
and an adaptable modular configuration that
allows for future upgrade paths to AC technology."
Magnetek's Quattro™ will be on display
at the upcoming NAEC Convention and World
Elevator EXPO III at Booth #461 on September
12-14, 2006.
The Quattro™ family is the latest
generation in Magnetek's long lineage of
elevator drives dating back over 25 years.
Magnetek pioneered the application of solid-state
drives to elevators in the 1980s. Today,
three generations of Magnetek AC drives
and digital field regulators, and thousands
of the Company's analog and digital DC direct
drives power elevators on six continents.
Most of the world's tallest buildings utilize
Magnetek drive systems on their highest
speed cars.
A wholly owned subsidiary of United Technologies
Corp. (NYSE:UTX), Otis is the world's largest
manufacturer and maintainer of people-moving
products including elevators, escalators
and moving walkways.
KONE Corporation provides complete and innovative
solutions for the installation,
modernization and maintenance of elevators
and escalators, and the maintenance of
automatic building doors.
